Mangrove Tourism in Sayung, Demak

A tomb in the middle of the sea is located in Sayung, Demak. This place is not too famous but it is interesting to visit with the history and culture inside. The unique is that there is a tomb that never sinks even if it is in the middle of the sea. Based on history, it is the tomb of Mbah Muzakir with the followers.

People make this place educational tourism. People here, especially in Java still believe in mystical things, but not all people. History and people here told me about the history of this place and that tomb, especially Mbah Muzakir. He is the one who spread Islam to people in this place. He died and was buried in this place when it was a large land. Day by day, rain and flood tide came and this land was sinking. Because of that, the land was lost, but the tomb was still visible. Some were lost because of flood tide but the tomb of Mbah Muzakir and its surrounding still exist.

A bridge to the tomb

To reach that tomb, Mbah Muzakir tomb, people must get through a long bridge. At first, people or visitors may bike their motorcycles but they have to stop in a certain place to park their motor and walk out to reach that tomb. There is a certain place for visitors to take pictures but they are not allowed to take pictures when they were entering the tomb area.

Below is the picture that can be taken on the boat. On the right side where there are so many trees is the place where you have to stop to bike your motor and you can take a picture. However, starting from the point of the bridge to get through the tomb, visitors are not allowed to take pictures. There is somebody or security who keep that place that will remind visitors to stop taking pictures when start to enter the tomb area. On the left side is the tomb of Mbah Muzakir with the followers.

A view the way to the tomb in the middle of the sea

This place is not too famous for tourism but well known for people surrounding it as Mangrove Tourism. There are some facilities that you can take and enjoy here. There are; taking photos in the Mangrove area, riding the boat, buying some Javanese food, and so on.

Unfortunately, visitors can't buy such souvenirs here. They have to go out from this area and look for market surrounding to get souvenirs to buy. It has to be remembered that Demak is famous with the name of  Kota Wali (Guardian City). It means that visitors may find many souvenirs related to the history of that city and the person mentioned as Wali.
