| Yasiin and Yasiinan |
In Koran, there are 114 letters. One of them is Yasiin that is in chapter 36. This letter consists of 83 verses, including Makkiyah letter, sent after Jin letter. This is called Yasiin because this letter is started by "Ya-Sin". Such as the letters of alphabet that is placed at the beginning of letters in Koran, so is the meaning of "Ya Sin" which is at the beginning of this letter, that is Allah hints that after that letter will be stated important things such as; Allah swears with the Koran that Muhammad salallahu'alaihi wasallam is really a prophet which is sent to people who have never been sent to them apostles.
Through this letter, a group of Yasiin came to be called by several people by the name of Ngaji Yasiinan. Commonly, this recitation exists in certainly place. This recitation is commonly held once a week in rotation. It means this recitation is held from one place or house to other. Of course, it is placed in recitation members of the congregation. The agendas in this recitation covers; opening which is conveyed by protocol or presenter, then recitation of Yasiin together. After that, it is continued by short speech which is conveyed by ustadz from that village, then pray and closing at once, and finally is eat together.
There is no base of management of that Yasiin recitation. Though, there are 114 letters from Koran. However, it will be better and appropriate to the name of management if the letter of recitation is Yasiin and speech also discuss about Yasiin itself. In short, Yasiin management is held once a week by discussing or conveying one letter in every meeting. It will be better than reciting Yasiin together without any correction in every letter and continued by speech which is no correlation to Yasiin itself.
Therefore, it can be an bid'ah activity because there is no guidance in it, that is from Koran and hadith. Besides, it is feared if someday people only know that Koran only Yasiin whereas there are many letters can be learnt in Koran.
In another hand, there are people who use Yasiin in death ceremony for Moslem, even for grave pilgrimage. Whereas for that death, it is enough for bathing, put on a shroud, and pray for the dead.
Those which writer knows about Yasiin and Yasiinan based on some experiences and observation in surround. This activity often exists in Java, Indonesia.
